OVERLAND PARK, Kan.—YRC Logistics, a subsidiary of less-than-truckload transportation services provider YRC Worldwide Inc., said this week it will be providing shippers with global forwarding services in Mexico.
YRC District Director of Southwest & Mexico Maurice Joseph told LM that this decision is largely based on customers needing to expand service offerings into Mexico.
We are constantly looking at ways to deliver value to our clients and increase their supply chain control and visibility, said Joseph. Offering global forwarding in Mexico also allowed us to better support our expanding Asia and South America global networks. Joseph added that YRC Logistics began working on this initiative last September.
In terms of expanding its global forwarding service offerings into Mexico, YRC Logistics will provide shippers with international air and ocean freight forwarding services, along with the transportation, distribution, and cross-border services it already offers in Mexico.
If a U.S.-based company is sourcing in Asia to support their growing Mexico client base, YRC Logistics will provide the company with ocean/air forwarding services from Asia direct to Mexico, the customs clearance, inland transportation from Mexico first port of entry to YRC Logistics distribution center, receive inventory, process outbound orders and deliver direct to our client’s end customer, he said. We can manage a complete end-to-end supply chain solution for the company.
Joseph said thatYRC Logistics can now provide services to companies that have global logistics needs to, from, and in Mexico from its Mexico City office.
Upgrading our freight forwarding services is the most effective way for our clients to benefit from YRC Logistics, said Jim Ritchie, President and CEO, YRC Logistics.
