Africa’s shipping industry and their supply chain partners had a unique opportunity to develop new business growth opportunities and joint ventures during ShippingChina's 4th Global Shipping Summit in Dalian, China, from October 22-23.
African Cargo and Logistics Alliance (ACLA) president Mr Ukata Christian, who represents members in 53 African countries, has urged more African shipping companies and supply chain executives to attend the summit to tap into investment opportunities that would improve productivity through the development of port and associated transhipment infrastructure throughout Africa.
“This summit is one of the largest gatherings of international shipping industry leaders and offers an ideal platform to promote business growth opportunities and how to develop reliable partnerships in Africa that can facilitate this,” Mr Christian said.
“There are tremendous growth opportunities for ports around the African continent but to achieve this new investment needs to be encouraged to build the infrastructure that would improve supply chain efficiencies and meet the demand for increasing volumes of trade,” Mr Christian said.
Mr Christian said African companies interested in joining the ACLA delegation attending the summit should contact him as soon as possible.
“This is a win-win opportunity for African companies and foreign investors to discuss partnerships that can deliver investment returns and greater port capacity and productivity in Africa, particularly the ability to cater for larger vessels.”
“The opportunities for modernization include provision of integrated road and rail links and this further highlights the potential to promote investments in port infrastructure,” he said.
