Reportedly, Deutsche Bahn will decide in autumn where to locate the new headquarters of the logistics unit. Currently there are three headquarters: Schenker (air, sea, and road transport) is based in Essen, DB Schenker Rail (former Railion) is based in Mainz, and the overhead is located at the group headquarters in Berlin.
Reportedly, two locations are short-listed: Frankfurt and Duisburg. Duisburg is the largest inland port in Germany and Frankfurt is the airport in Germany.
Deutsche Bahn will probably opt for the municipality, which will offer the best incentives.
According to Logistics Finland, the logistics unit accounts for about 60% or EUR 19.3bn of Deutsche Bahn's turnover.
