Hactl expands its facilities

Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) today held a groundbreaking ceremony for a contingency horse handling centre to prepare for the upcoming 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events in Hong Kong.

The area, with a total of 3,269-sq.m., will act as a back-up staging area for the competition horses of the Equestrian Events as well as additional facilities for Unit Load Device (ULD) handling in close proximity to the existing Hactl ULD Centre. The total investment is approximately HK$14 million, further underlining Hactl’s dedication in providing premier cargo handling services to support this world-class event, as well as the sustainable growth of its customers.

Kenneth Bell, Director, Service Delivery and Tony Kwan, General Manager, Engineering, officiated at today’s groundbreaking ceremony that marks the beginning of the foundation work. The facility will commence operations in July 2008.

Kenneth Bell said, “Our initiative to expand our facility highlights our ongoing commitment in providing additional infrastructure and investing to service the requirements of this Olympic event, our airline clients and the air cargo industry.  As the operator of the largest and the world’s busiest air cargo terminal, Hactl will continue to invest and strive to achieve excellence in its services.”
