Swedish and Norwegian infrastructure ministers Åsa Torstensson and Liv Signe Navarsete met recently to discuss a possible electrification of the Meråkerbanan rail track between Trondheim and Storlien. The ministers stated that they are interested in encouraging sustainable and efficient rail transports in the mid Nordic region. The national rail administrations in Sweden and Norway are to increase collaboration to study possible initiatives in the region, in particular between Östersund and Trondheim, Logistics Finland reported.
