The Kosovo authorities have announced a tender procedure for the Kosovo international airport, effective from August 10. "Companies willing to participate in the bidding process may register until September 23," media reports have said.
Among the requirements put forward by the authorities are that the company must invest at least 85 million euro in the construction of a new terminal, control tower and a parking lot "within the parameters of the existing infrastructure of Pristina airport", said a Kosovo transport ministry spokesperson, quoted by Reuters.
According to Reuters, the airport in Pristina processes about 1.2 million passengers annually. The peak period of transit is during the summer "when most Kosovar immigrants are returning to their country", the report says.
Local authorities hope that the enterprise from the concession could bring the country as much as 400 million euro over the next two decades.
