China's investments in road, water traffic to reach CNY1 trillion

Boeing and EgyptAir today announced that the airline has converted a previous order for two 777s into an order for an additional eight Next-Generation 737-800s. The order was added last week to Boeing's Orders & Deliveries Web site attributed to an unidentified customer. The airline currently has seven 737-800s in operation and it is taking delivery of an additional five 737-800s this year. The airline currently has five 777s in its fleet and is scheduled to receive six 777-300ERs beginning next year.

CHINA'S full-year investment on road and water traffic is to reach CNY1 trillion (US$14.6 billion) by the end of the year, a year on year increase of 20 per cent, Xinhua reported.

Ministry of Transport spokesman He Jianzhong said the investment on road projects in the early half of this year increased 49 per cent to CNY36.3 billion. Another CNY29.7 billion was invested on sea ports, a year-on-year increase of 5.8 per cent and CNY12.5 billion was spent on river traffic, up 29.9 per cent.
