GEFCO to open a new depot

GEFCO Brazil will open a new depot in north-eastern São Paulo in January 2010. Located in Garulhos, the new depot will group the activities of the Vila Olimpia and Vila Guilherme's sites, eyefortransport reports.

The 6,200 m2 facility will handle all of GEFCO Brazil's sea and air transport operations (commercial, administrative and operational monitoring), manage and optimise supply for the PSA Peugeot Citroën plants in Porto Real and Palomar in Argentina, and co-ordinate ground transport for Overland in the São Paulo region.
The new depot will also provide storage and logistics solutions.

In other news, GEFCO Le Havre has reported an increase in CKD activity to China and South America.The containers are prepared at the Le Havre international logistics platform and transported to the port. GEFCO Le Havre shipped 952 EVP sea containers to these markets in May, compared with only seventeen in January.
