The U.S. Commerce Department's Bureau of Industry and Security has launched the BIS Online Training Room, a new resource for companies interested in learning more about export control regulations.
The Training Room will serve as a repository for BIS training modules and webinars to supplement the agency's current exporter outreach programs. BIS is responsible for ensuring that U.S. exporters comply with the country's export control regulations, especially for dual-use items, which have both commercial and military applications.
Active compliance with U.S. dual-use export control regulations is critical to maintaining safe and secure international trade, and it is essential that we support the good-faith efforts of exporters to comply with our regulations, said Mario Mancuso, the department's undersecretary for industry and security, in a statement.
Mancuso added the Training Room should be most useful to small and medium size exporters.
The agency said it would continue to create and supplement the materials in the Training Room regularly.
The initial launch includes the first half of the Essentials of Export Controls seminar that BIS offers around the country, as well as five pre-recorded webinars covering a variety of topics. The training modules are presented in a video streamlining format.
The Training Room can be accessed online at www.bis.doc.gov/seminarsandtraining/seminar-training.htm.
