New vessels from China

Jul 17, 2009 Logistics

German shipping company Lauterjung has seen an upturn in demand for bulk carrier transport since the beginning of 2009. Two bulk carriers with a capacity of 50,000 tonnes each are being built for the Emden-based company. Moreover, Chinese yards will deliver two car carriers to Lauterjung in the next few years.
At the end of June 2009 Lauterjung took delivery of the City of Hongkong, a vessel with a capacity of 2,600 containers. It was built by a yard in Xiamen. Another container ship, the City of Beijing, is under construction in China. It will be Lauterjung's seventh container ship.
Karl Lauterjung said that reasonable profits can be made with ships even in times of crisis, Logistics Finland reported.
