Jul 15, 2009 Logistics

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Continuing to strengthen its cross-border capabilities, C.H. Robinson Worldwide, Inc. has acquired certain assets of International Trade & Commerce, Inc.

C.H. Robinson, one of the largest non-asset based third party logistics companies in the

world, made the announcement late last week, noting that  International Trade

& Commerce, Inc. (ITC) has long been recognized as a premier U.S. customs brokerage company specializing in warehousing and distribution. It is headquartered in

Laredo, Texas.

“ITC strengthens our ability to provide customers a seamless cross-border service package across the United States and Mexico border,” said Scott Satterlee, C.H. Robinson senior vice president. “Customers increasingly want a single point of contact to provide visibility and consolidated invoicing in order to achieve optimal efficiency with their transportation spend. ITC greatly enhances our ability to meet those needs.”

According to Armstrong & Associates, C.H. Robinson remains the most profitable 3PL provider, expanding its international transportation operations, and it is now handling over 150,000 twenty-equivalent units (TEU) a year internationally.

“Most of the growth in the 3PL arena will come from doing business abroad, and we don’t see that changing anytime soon,” said Evan Armstrong, president of Armstrong & Associates. “The international management transportation segment had a net revenue gain of 18 percent last year.”

Outside of its primary location in Laredo, ITC is currently engaged in customs activities in many other United States sea, air and land ports. They are C-TPAT certified and a Border Anti- Smuggling Coalition member.
