BACA appoints first Chief Executive

The Baltic Air Charter Association (BACA) has appointed Markham Jackson as it first Chief Executive. Mr Jackson, who started his career with BOAC (now BA) in Europe, the Middle East and West Africa, later launched his own air broking business.
BACA, a member of the City of London’s Baltic Exchange, is dedicated to promoting integrity and ethical business practices in air brokerage. Its members include not only brokers but also others involved in air charter including airlines, airports, handling agents, aviation lawyers and consultants.
Chairman of BACA, Dick Gilbert, says: “We are pleased to have such an experienced Chief Executive as Markham on board. He has been involved with BACA for many years already and has been on the BACA Council for the last 12 years.” 
The Chief Executive will assist with the administration and promotion of BACA, in coordination with the secretariat, and as directed by the Chairman and Council. This is likely to include attendance at industry meetings and functions at which it would be beneficial for BACA to have a presence. 
Mr Jackson says it is a challenging time for the air charter industry. “But that is all the more reason for organisations like BACA to promote the highest standards in our industry. Our members not only offer charterers the most efficient and cost-effective option, but also work only with high quality charter airlines.”
