One dead on released Marathon

The Netherlands Antilles-flagged Marathon, seized by Somali pirates last month, has been released and one of the ship's 8-man Ukrainian crew is dead, according to the Dutch Defence Ministry. Welder Sergiy Vartenkov was shot dead during the capture of the vessel on May 7. Another member of the crew suffered a bullet wound. The Marathon is now being escorted to port by the Dutch frigate De Zeven Provincien.
