Petrol prices increased

May 26, 2009 Logistics

Petrol prices in Bulgaria increased by more than two per cent on May 22 2009 to reflect price spikes on the international markets in the past few months.

Lukoil Neftochim, the country’s sole refinery, owned by the Russian heavyweight, was selling A-95 H petrol at 1.79 leva a litre by wholesale prices, which translates into at least 1.94 leva at filling stations.

However, diesel prices were cut to a wholesale 1.59 leva a litre, or 1.74 leva a litre retail prices.

Global analysts said that petrol prices were rising too fast and had gone too high given the current state of the global economy and market demand.

The main drivers behind the trend are the healing capital markets and the growing liquidity on a global scale following governments’ and central banks’ measures to arrest the economic slide, Dnevnik.bg informed.
