The Annual Marine Propulsion Conference has established itself as the foremost yearly event dedicated to addressing the marine engineering operational challenges facing today's shipowners. The 2009 event attracted almost 200 registered delegates, a 36 per cent increase on 2008. The 2010 event will again be held in London, on 10-11 March.
To continue to address the key challenges faced by operators and keep the programme both topical and relevant, an advisory panel comprising leaders from across the marine engineering industry has been assembled.
The panel will be chaired by conference chairman Edwin Lampert, and it has eight members drawn from the worlds of class, shipowning, academia, trade association, OEM, consultancy, fuels/lubes/additives and shipbuilding. The members will contribute their experience and expertise in order to help drive the further development of the technical programme.
• Duncan Forbes, Executive Vice President Engineering & Technology, Rolls-Royce Marine
• Dr Zabi Bazari, Ship Energy Services Manager, Lloyd’s Register EMEA
• Professor Lars Nerheim, University College of Bergen, Norway
• Jan Otto de Kat, Head of Innovation Department, A P Møller-Maersk
• Ari Rakkola, Senior Marine Engineer & Naval Architect, STX Europe
• Andrei Ludu, Deputy Product Line Manager & Head of Product Management, Large Engines, AVL List
•Jeremy Spencer, Worldwide Technical Manager, Infineum
• Niels Bjørn Mortensen, Marine Department Head, BIMCO.
“We are delighted and honoured to have such a distinguished advisory panel,” says conference chairman Edwin Lampert. “Having people of this calibre as a ‘sounding board’ for ideas is an important and valuable endorsement of our event. Their advice will be invaluable in both shaping the technical programme and maintaining the event’s status as the world’s leading annual marine engineering forum.”
