Argentina will have the honour of hosting, next November, an important much awaited meeting: The 12th International Conference of Cities and Ports.

A meeting which will bring together the major stakeholders of the cities and the ports in the fields of research, of conception of projects and of decision making, on a theme both fundamental and exciting in the overall context of the evolution of human societies.

Under the slogan "New World, new challenges", two port cities will testify to the vitality and creativity of the South American continent. They will successively open up to ideas and proposals which will provide answers to the present complex problematic and which will enable the missions and objectives for the future to be targeted.

The first challenge which we shall have to meet is that of organising together an event with a wide scope. It will have as the major objective to find the innovatory and strategic knowledge which will enable us, thanks to the contributions of specialists and experts from several continents, to adopt a common vision, modern and optimist, capable of satisfying societies expecting changes.

This is the reason for which our young nation invites you to creativity and imagination for projects which, as during the previous Conferences in Sydney and Stockholm in 2006 and 2008, will be equal to the remarkable role given to the port cities which assert a strong urban identity whilst being the essential protagonists of trade, logistics and tourism on an international scale.

We are certain that you will share our enthusiasm to the idea of getting together again next November in Buenos Aires and in Rosario to raise complex and captivating questions on the place of port cities in the New World of tomorrow.
