The III International conference “St. Petersburg — the Sea Capital of RUSSIA. Transport and Transit Potential” will take place on the 9th and 10th of September 2010 in St. Petersburg. The event will be held within the framework of the “UNITED RUSSIA” Party Project “St. Petersburg — the Sea Capital of RUSSIA”. The key issues to be discussed at the conference are Russia’s integration into the international transport system, prospects of development of the country’s transport and logistics sector, improvement of legislation in the transport sphere.

Due to its geographic position and scale of the territory our country possesses great transport and transit potential. From Kaliningrad to Far East, from the Arctic Ocean to the Black sea stretch highways and railways, waterways and aviation corridors. With such facilities Russia can efficiently realize its national interests, develop its economy and industry and transform into one of the strongest transport states.

However, in order to attain this goal Russia will have to overcome a number of acute problems demanding thorough attention. Among them — insufficient integration of the country into the international transport space, problems in development and promotion of Federal target programs aimed at transport system modernization, administrative barriers and weak interdepartmental cooperation, legislative shortcomings, low level of infrastructure development at main transport hubs and corridors.

Participants of the III International conference “St. Petersburg — the Sea Capital of RUSSIA. Transport and Transit Potential” will attempt to find solutions to these problems.

Top officials from the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, Ministry of Regional Development of the RF, Ministry of Economic Development of the RF, Federal services of vehicular, railway, sea and river transport, representatives of administrations of more than 40 regions of the Russian Federation, shipping and logistic, transport and forwarding, navigation and industrial companies, sea and river ports, delegates from European and Asian countries will take part in the conference.

III International conference “St. Petersburg — the Sea Capital of RUSSIA. Transport and Transit Potential” will result in a Draft Resolution that will include suggestions made by the conference participants on improving the situation in the transport service market and modernization of Russia’s transport infrastructure as a whole.

We invite you to take an active part in the conference!
