A note from your conference chairman..

The salvage industry has always been dynamic with continuous change and new challenges as accepted features. However, the last year or so has seen more changes than any since 2000.

Today, there are perhaps more salvage and wreck removal contractors than ever before with “new boys on the block” but with some old names in charge. Contractors who were formerly home based have now globalised. Salvage awards and wreck removal costs have come under particular scrutiny which has prompted wide debate about LOF awards and dedicated global response services under insurers’ control.

Will the Wreck Removal Convention meet its objectives and will this mean more work for the salvor? Is the SOSREP system in the UK the vanguard in casualty management & control? Is SCOPIC alive and kicking and what changes might be needed if it is to survive the next decade?

Environmental salvage continues to be hotly debated but will it ever get off the ground or might there be a compromise? What about Salvors’ immunity? What progress has been made on this?

This year’s Salvage & Wreck Removal Conference will discuss all the key issues arising today with well known speakers from the industry airing their views and prompting important debate. The Conference is now in its 12th year and has always been a resounding success and an event which brings together all strands of the industry. Importantly too, it provides an annual opportunity in the festive season to meet old friends and make new contacts.
