Dear Delegate,

Containerisation International in association with Informa Maritime Events is delighted to be hosting a second annual Med Freight conference.

The event, which will take place in Marseilles between November 26 and 27 this year, will address all of the key issues affecting the Mediterranean region's liner shipping, ports/terminals and intermodal freight transport industries.

While ports in the Mediterranean have become increasingly competitive, built new state of the art facilities and expanded existing terminals in recent years, they are still not handling much cargo destined for northern Europe, despite having the potential to offer shippers/consignees faster transit times and ocean carriers significant cost savings. Why not?

And why is the Mediterranean liner market so different from that in northern Europe and what do carriers and logistics service providers need to offer to be successful? What are the prospects for this market and when will the recovery take place? How is it that despite grants and subsidies, the EC's 'Motorways of the Sea' programme has not realised its full potential in the region and what needs to be done on road, rail and barge infrastructure and service developments to improve the region's freight transport and logistics connectivity?

All of these strategic and business-focused issues will be addressed and answered by key speakers and panelists that between them have many many years of experience in the Mediterranean shipping and transport sectors. So if you are a stakeholder in any business that is involved in the Mediterranean's container trades and logistics industries, or an investor that is looking at opportunities in this challenging market, then our Med Freight conference is simply the one event in the latter part of this year that you cannot afford to miss out on.

Put the dates in your diary and I look forward to meeting you in Marseilles.

Kind regards

John Fossey
