Now in its 6th year, the World Low Cost Airlines Congress is where the world’s low cost carriers meet to learn from each other, where flag and charter carriers come to learn from low cost, and where the industry that supplies them comes to do business. It is about strategy, innovation and the future of the aviation industry.
It is evident after months of research with low cost airlines and their industry peers that the key overarching challenge they face is of coping with falling travel demand, battling regulations and taxes and adjusting to the new environmental paradigm. All the airlines we spoke to were seeking new opportunities to cut costs and boost revenues and many were refining business models to remain competitive and profitable in the toughest economic climate airlines have had to face since 2001.
