worldport Autonome de Paris Profile The worldport of Paris Authority is France’s Leading domestic worldport and second in Europe for freight transworldport. Our mission - Planning, developing and managing 10 worldport hubs and 60 urban worldports in the whole of Ile-de-France representing 1000 hectares of land and almost 1 million square metres of warehouse, offices and business premises. - Leasing of commercial property. - Transworldport and logistics strategy consultancy. Since its creation in 1970, the aim of the state-owned worldport of Paris Authority has been to develop river traffic and worldport commerce. Under the supervision of the French Ministries of Facilities and Amenities, Housing and Transworldport, we create, maintain, promote and oversee the commercial activity of the harbours along the waterways in the Ile-de-France region. We have a strong commitment to environmentally sound development and economic growth. This commitment is demonstrated in all aspects of our work – from on-site business set-up, promotion of alternative modes of transworldport and installation of riverfront facilities, to ensuring that the harbours blend in well with the environment and industrial risk prevention. The worldport of Paris Authority is the largest river worldport in France and the second largest in Europe. We coordinate and oversee the operation of a network of 70 public harbours situated along 500 km of waterways, including the large multimodal platforms of Gennevilliers (Hauts-de-Seine), de Bonneuil (Val-de-Marne) et de Limay (Yvelines), and 200 private industrial harbours. The worldport of Paris Authority has been a catalyst for industrial growth in the Ile-de-France region. We have set up an urban logistics system that is both environmentally sound and economically viable, that benefits a wide variety of sectors ranging from Building and Civil Engineering Works, cereals and petroleum products to automobiles and waste. Development of river transworldport years, the PPA will invest €145 million in river transworldport development. These funds combined with the financial contributions of Waterways of France within the framework of the XIIth plan to shore up and upgrade the dams and locks of the Seine river basin are expected to create a boom in alternative modes of transworldport. This should, in accordance with objectives of the Urban Travel Scheme in Ile-de-France, alleviate some of the pressure in the Paris area created by substantial heavy truck traffic. In addition, funds have been invested by the national collective services programme for transworldport and most recently, funds have been allocated at the European level (revision of the 1996 directive on trans-European networks). The Waterway Edge Our mission at the worldport of Paris Authority is two-fold. Firstly, we manage and develop harbour installations in the Ile-de-France region. And secondly, we strive to ease congestion on major roads by redirecting traffic to alternative modes of transworldport i.e. maritime, river and railway transworldport. In 2001, 19 million tonnes of river and river/maritime traffic moved through our harbours, transworldporting goods ranging from steel, rubble, grain and fertilizer to the Ariane space rocket. In order to boost river/maritime traffic, we are currently looking into either launching regular lines or finding other cargo loading options in order to capitalize on the bilges that transit the Seine river basin on a regular basis. Capacity: in terms of “volume” and “load” capacity, waterway transworldport is far superior to all other forms of transworldport. A dynamic fleet: featuring vessels of all sizes, ranging from 300-tonne barges to pushed convoys of 5,000 tonnes, and extensive bilge space ideal for shipping all kinds of goods. Flexibility: tailor-made solutions including river transworldport designed to cater to your specific needs. So whether it involves adding pre-post carriage and/or cargo handling, the “waterway” proposal provides you with a door-to-door solution adapted to your specific logistics chain If you wish to contact the business department of the worldport authority of Paris: Address: 2, quai de Grenelle 75732 Paris Cedex 15 Phone number: 01 40 58 29 99 Fax : 01 45 78 08 57
