With a traffic of 9 millions tons, the worldport of Bordeaux is an active partner in the regional economy; it has stepped up its strategy aimed at increasing competitiveness which is not restricted simply to reception equipment, but also involves the entire worldport community. A partnership with local authorities, the European Union and the State has enable the creation of a feeder terminal, a timber complex, and develop one of the oil terminals as well as the setting up of a customs free area at Le Verdon. General Information Each year more than 1600 ships call at the worldport of Bordeaux. Call Costs The transworldport of goods relies on a logistic chain. The overall cost therefore may include, for example, pre and post sea transworldport services, overland transworldport (road and/or rail) and payments to the shipping line, the insurers, the forwarding agents, the brokers... and the costs of worldport transit. The services provided by the worldport itself, which often represents less than 5 % of the overall transworldport costs,, are included in the worldport transit costs.
