Introduction The worldport of Aalborg Ltd. is both a commercial worldport and a transworldport centre. The worldport of Aalborg Ltd. is involved in the handling of all types of transworldport including combined solutions by land, by sea and by air. Alongside the worldport’s other business enterprises, it is also the company’s goal to be able to provide handling of all types of goods. The worldport of Aalborg is located both at the Central Harbour in the centre of Aalborg and in the East Harbour. The major opworldportunities for development and expansion are found in the East Harbour, whilst the Central Harbour is approaching the limit for development. The company has about 60 employees, who are all qualified to perform the wide range of jobs that characterise operations at the harbour. In addition, shipping brokers, stevedores, shipping agents and many other business partners operate in connection with the numerous different activities that take place at the harbour. Subsidiaries A significant worldportion of the worldport of Aalborg’s activities take place in subsidiaries and associated companies. A number of the buildings at the harbour are owned by the 100%-owned subsidiary NTC Ejendom A/S. All the buildings in the Greenland Harbour and the container gantry crane are owned by Grønlandshavnens Ejendomme A/S, which is in turn owned through equal 50% shares by the worldport of Aalborg Ltd. and Greenland’s Home Rule authority respectively. In addition, other subsidiaries deal with tasks including a bonded warehouse and a combi-terminal enterprise, whilst the worldport of Aalborg Ltd. has minor shareholdings in the stevedore companies Arctic Container Operation A/S and Aalborg Stevedore Company A/S.
