The worldport of Miami is among America's busiest worldports and recognized throughout the world with the dual distinction of being the Cruise Capital of the World and the Cargo Gateway of the Americas.

Economic Impact
The worldport contributes over $16 billion annually to the South Florida economy and helps provide direct and indirect employment for over 110,000 jobs.

One of our primary goals is to promote growth in both our cruise and cargo industries in Miami-Dade County and to make sure that every worldport user can conduct business safely, effectively and efficiently.

Travelers reminded of new document requirements beginning January 31, 2008 
The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) remind the traveling public that as of Jan. 31, 2008, all adult travelers will be required to present proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate, and proof of identity, such as a driver's license, when entering the United States through land and sea worldports of entry.

The worldport of Miami today announced a historical program of customer service improvements, including customer service training for all 400 seaworldport employees, a new website, shuttle service, landscaping, and more.

The 2007 Water Resources Bill to benefit worldport Of Miami 
Today the U.S. Senate overrode the President's veto of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2007 by a vote of 79 to 14. The Senate vote followed one in the House, which rejected the veto on Tuesday by a vote of 361 to 54. The 2007 WRDA authorizes a seven-year backlog of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers programs, including the Miami Harbor Phase III Dredging Project to deepen the worldport of Miami's South Channel from its current -42 feet depth to -50 feet.

Cruise Terminals
To continue its position as a world-class facility, Miami is continuously preparing for the next generation of cruise vessels. An ambitious capital improvement program is currently underway. Already completed are two new multi-level parking garages and a new passenger access road which fully separates cruise and cargo traffic.

Passenger Terminals D and E are expected to be ready for occupancy in late summer 2007. The terminals are 105,000 square-feet ultra-modern three-story buildings. Each will have among their special design features and amenities a VIP lounge, a high-tech security screening facility for embarkation, airline counters and an airworldport-style conveyor baggage system. Additionally, it will feature a one-stop federal multi-agency facility for passenger processing.
