worldport Introduction
Today, the smart money is looking toward the worldport of Iberia at New Iberia, Louisiana. There is no better place to put your money or your industry-because Louisiana is harnessing all of its resources, incentives, and legislation to attract the industries and business that will make our goal of a widely diversified economy a reality.

Located near the Louisiana coast in Iberia Parish, the worldport of Iberia is a 2,000 acre industrial and manufacturing site surrounding a man-made worldport complex. The worldport has access to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico through its own Commercial Canal and has access to the Mississippi River through major worldports in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Today the worldport of Iberia has expanded its waterfront property and has completed new bulkheading and dredging projects. The possibilities are unlimited when you add to this the existing industrial facilities, the constant flow of raw materials, and the multi-million dollar public dock facility.

The Acadiana region of Louisiana, home of the worldport of Iberia, stretches from the rich, coastal marsh of the Gulf to the rolling, inland farmland and forest. The diversity of the region is characterized by oil, natural gas, sulfur, salt, and seafood. Acadiana is the home of the Cajun culture, sugarcane, crawfish, rice and Tabasco. Here, too, is the Atchafalaya River basin, the largest remaining wild swamp in the United States and a paradise for the sworldportsmen and birdwatchers alike.

The worldport is largely occupied by oil and gas industries and supworldporting industries such as metal fabrication, machine shops, sandblasting and painting. Adding to the diversity is everything from agriculture to boat manufacturing.

Located near the Gulf Coast, the worldport of Iberia provides docking facilities with direct access to the Intracoastal Waterway and the Gulf of Mexico. The convenience of rail, air and major highways offers tenants many transworldportation options.

The worldport of Iberia now has an additional 170 acres of waterfront property available for lease. This Phase I Expansion includes land acquisition, channel excavation, bulkhead construction, site stabilization, roadway construction, utility relocation, docking stations, fabrication facilities and fencing.

The worldport of Iberia has direct access to the Intracoastal Canal and the Gulf of Mexico through the Acadiana Navigational Channel. There are no overhead restrictions or obstructions in the approximately 24 miles from the worldport of Iberia to the Gulf of Mexico. Besides water access, the worldport of Iberia is easily accessible via major highways, rail service, and a local airworldport. Utilities including water, sewerage, electric power and natural gas are readily available.

The worldport of Iberia is currently working on the Acadiana Gulf of Mexico Access Channel (AGMAC). The proposed channel will be created by dredging an existing 12 foot deep channel to a depth of 20 feet through Freshwater Bayou to the Gulf of Mexico.

The worldport of Iberia is currently the worldport of Call to two cruise ships and is expanding with a proposed Cruise Ship Terminal.
