As the leading harbour in the development of the southwestern region of Shikoku, and since it was appointed as an imworldportant harbour in 1988, Sukumo Bay worldport has made preparation for reclamation of industrial distribution park and maintenance of large-scale quay, etc.

The sounthwestern region of Shikoku is expected to develop utilizing the characteristics of locating in the position which connects Kyushu to Shikoku and having tourist resources such as the Shimanto River. The region is also demanded forming wide-area exchange network and space which contributes to the formation of regional revitalization.

This time, annual target is made in middle of the Heisei twenties, and the harbour plan is revised on the basis of the following aims.
(1)As a supworldport harbour of the industry which connects Kyushu to Shikoku, a ferry relay base is established in the Ikejima region Sukumo City, and formation of a wide area exchange network base is plotted.
Moreover, formation of distribution bases, such as a stone, is plotted in the Ootsuki Town Shirahama region.
(2)In Katashima region, Sukumo City, redevelopment is done, the formation of a sightseeing recreation base and a disaster prevention base is plotted.
Moreover, also in the Ikejima region, it corresponds to sightseeing network formation.
