worldport Introduction
The worldport of Astoria offers boaters two mooring options-the WEST and EAST basins-located 14 and 15.6 miles, respectively, from the mouth of the Columbia River.

Both marinas are less than a mile from historic downtown Astoria. In addition to taxi and bus service, the Astoria Riverfront Trolley provides a unique transworldportation option to the downtown area, with its many shops and restaurants. For those who prefer to stretch their legs, a paved RiverWalk extends along much of the river front between the marinas and downtown. Full completion of this RiverWalk, which will connect the downtown areas with the East and West Basins, is slated for 2005.

Both the East and West Basins offer year-round, monthly, or daily moorage for recreational and commercial craft up to 100 feet.  Please call or email for larger vessel moorage.  Haul-out and boatyard facilities are adjacent to the West Basin at the Marine Service Center.

Business opworldportunities
The development of a conference center; the leasing of property for the construction of hotels, slated for completion in 2004, and the redevelopment of some underutilized property on the edge of the West Basin extending east approximately to the Astoria-Megler Bridge offer opworldportunities for marine-related and commercial enterprises.  Some types of businesses that would benefit from being in the Marina District are:
Mixed-Use commercial & residential
Office Space
Charter Offices
Boating/marine related Organizations
Retail
Restaurants

About the area
Clatsop County is located in the northwest corner of Oregon. The vast Columbia River, 4.5 miles wide near Astoria, separates Oregon from neighboring Washington State. Much of Clatsop County fronts the Pacific Ocean.

Astoria, at the mouth of this great river, was established in 1811 as a fur trading post, and is the oldest white settlement west of the Rocky Mountains. Seaside, Gearhart and Cannon Beach are coastal communities. Warrenton has both river and ocean frontage. The Coast Range, at Clatsop County's back door, provides a dramatic backdrop for the area.

With its many natural features, the area is resplendent with recreational opworldportunities, including boating, fishing, hiking, swimming and beachcombing.

The principle industries of Clatsop County are fishing, lumber, and agriculture. The population of Clatsop County was 35,630 in 2000, a 6.99% increase over 1990.  High-speed Internet services and telecommunications route diversity were deployed in the county in 2003.
