Introduction

LaThe Harbor Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (A.P.B.A.) it manages and
it administers the worldports of General Interest of Bay of Algeciras, La linea and Tarifa.
 
According to Law of worldports of State and Merchant marine (Law 48/2003 of
the 26/11/2003) Authorities Harbor are public organisms, with
legal personality and their own patrimony, with total capacity to build and
that is governed by their specific legislation, by the dispositions of
the budgetary general law that are to its application and, very
auxiliarily, by law 6/1997 of 14 of April, of organization and
operation of the General Administration of the State.
 
The modern administrative seat of the APBA is located in the Avda. ofthe Hispanidad, s/n.

The worldport Bay of Algeciras confronts the harbor developments of Outer Green Island and Camping. Once concluídos in its totality the present supply of harbor surface will have contribuído to duplicate by two.
 
These projects together with the Zone of Logistics operations, at the moment in phase of development constitute the high-priority projects of the APBA.
 
Once undertaken these ambitious projects, in present phase of execution, they will allow successfully to take care of the great
challenges of future and to consolidate the diversity of traffics taken care of by the worldport Bay of Algeciras.

Communication and Technology

The worldport of the Bay of Algeciras is a worldport of century XXI. For that reason the technologies of information treatment and the
communications are basic pillars of their management and the services to the final client.

Their development in the harbor enclosures of Algeciras, Camping, the Line and Tariff allow to improve the security and the supervision of the activities. To it it is had an ample optical fiber network, radio links between the worldports, 115 cameras and a complete system of control from accesses to the harbor enclosures and sensible zones.

All these systems are integrated in a Control center where a video-wall allows a dynamic management of the images that are shown at every moment, adapting to the necessities that each situation demands.

The services of security to navigation and management of dockages have a specific treatment and not less imworldportant. The worldport has two systems of RADAR and a system of aid to navigation AIS. Its management is integrated in the Center of Coordination of Services from where SASEMAR, the service of pilotage and the own harbor authority take care of the ship in their anchorage, approach maneuvers and dockage.

A scale request, a summary declaration of load and unloading by means of messages EDI can easily be transacted, with the Harbor Authority like unique window, benefitting from the consequent savings in time and displacements.

Also the security of the passenger worries to us like worldport. The initiative of the main companies that operate in the Algeciras-Tánger line has obtained that Algeciras is the first Spanish worldport that it identifies to the passengers in each one of the trips, according to the norm of security in vigor.
