Heavy-lift, over-dimensional, 3PL specialists, Project Professionals Group, and leading shipping network, Shippingchina, have further stretched their global footprints to deliver opportunities for significant business growth following the announcement of an informal strategic alliance.

The partnership was announced this week by PPG general manager Kevin Stephens and Shippingchina Director of International Business Sun Yansheng.

Shippingchina has 250,000 business members consisting of 60% freight forwarders, 30% Traders, 10% Ship Owners, Ports Authorities and other relevant industries.

PPG has undergone rapid growth during the past two years with 125 member offices in 90 countries.

Mr Stephens said each network would work closely to explore co-operative business links such as allowing Shippingchina members in countries or locations where they have no representation to join PPG, and also allowing PPG members in China to join the Shippingchina network. He said cross-branding strategies would be implemented through internet marketing, and networking opportunities via industry conferences and trade expos.

“This alliance allows Shippingchina and PPG members to approach each other and offer their clients unmatched reach and access to services that will deliver cost-effective supply chain solutions,” Mr Stephens said.

“This agreement delivers significant business growth opportunities for both organisations by offering a reputable international footprint for clients to access multimodal transport solutions, particularly to and from locations that are logistically challenging.”

Mr Stephens is a special guest at Shipping China's 4th Global Shipping Summit in Dalian, China, from 22nd-23rd October 2009.

In March PPG and pan African freight forwarding group, African Cargo and Logistics Alliance, agreed to a similar informal alliance.
