History of the Group

Parakou Shipping Limited was first established in Hong Kong in 1985 starting with ship management and chartering business. Since that date the Group has been growing rapidly to a diversified shipping business complex with extended activities towards ship owning, terminal and storage, crew management, new building services, supplies and port services.

The Group has expanded its business coverage from its head office in Hong Kong to the Asian region and the international markets. To cope with the development, a number of branches and representative offices are set up at strategic positions like Beijing, Shanghai and Manila.

Starting from early 1990’s, the Group began to rationalize its fleet by retiring the old tonnages and replacing by new building ships. The marketability and environmental protection are the key concerns when the Group determines the specifications of the new vessels. The Group has concluded about 100 new building ships from the shipyards in Japan, Korea and China. The Group continues to expand and enrich its shipping activities to a more diversified group of business.
