The pilotage fees payable are:


Where a vessel is piloted from Charles Point Patches Buoy to Channel Rock or vice versa $365.93.


Where a vessel is piloted from Channel Rock Buoy to Quarantine Anchorage or vice versa 3.94 cents per GRT/UMST or $190.28 whichever is the greater fee.


Where a vessel is piloted from Quarantine Anchorage to a main port berth or vice versa – 6.2 cents per GRT/UMST or $282.60 whichever is the greater fee.


Where a vessel is piloted from Quarantine Anchorage to a remote berth, buoy mooring or anchorage in any of the harbour arms or vice versa a $373.81 additional charge will apply.


Where a vessel is piloted from a berth at a wharf to another berth at the same wharf - $190.28.


Where a vessel is piloted from one wharf to another wharf 6.19 cents per GRT/UMST or $273.60 whichever is the greater fee.


If a pilot is required for compass adjustment and/or trials an additional hourly charge of $168.89 is applied to appropriate pilotage fee;


Pilotage fee for non commercial vessels; $206.00 with Pilot Vessel or $103.00 without Pilot Vessel.


Note: Normal pilotage is from Channel Rock to berth therefore for calculation purposes pilotage is an addition of (b) and (c) (plus other fees above if applicable).


 


Berthage fees are payable in respect of the period which commences when a vessel or lighter is secured at berth and finishes when the last line from the vessel or lighter is cast off at a berth and, for the purposes of this Schedule, a vessel or lighter occupies the berth during that period.


The scale of charges for berthage fees are:


a)For a vessel or lighter (other than a fishing vessel or passenger/tourist ferry) – 2.81 cents per GRT/UMST for each 6 hours or part thereof. A minimum charge of 24 hours,11.24 cents per GRT.


Note: For all items previously computed on GRT, where a Universal Measurement System (UMST) figure has been declared/calculated it will be used instead.


b) For a passenger ferry or tourist ferry – 18.18 cents per metre length overall for each 6 hours or part thereof; during which the vessel or lighter occupies a berth, with a minimum charge as for 24 hours occupation of a berth.


c) For a fishing vessel – 19.7 cents per metre length overall for each 6 hours or part thereof, with a minimum charge as for 24 hours of occupation of berth.


d) If Port Corporation mooring buoys are available, rates are 50% less than normal berthage rates applicable on main berths.


e) Where a vessel or lighter (other than a fishing vessel or passenger or tourist ferry) is berthed within the Port for the purposes of loading fuel, water or supplies for its own use or for purposes other than commercial purposes, the Port Corporation may grant a rebate of 75% of the berthage fees which are payable under this Schedule, in respect of the first 24 hours of the period of which the vessel or lighter is berthed within the Port.


Note: A limited exemption of 8 hours for fishing vessels while unloading catch (this applies only to those with pre-paid annual rentals in the Darwin Fishing Harbour Mooring Basin).


 


The scale of charges for wharfage, whether loading or unloading is:


Imported petroleum produces and oils if bulk - $8.45/kl or part thereof


Exported bulk petroleum products and oils - 91.67 cents/kl


Cattle, Buffalo, Horses or Camels $1.71 per animal; for Sheep or Goats 43.26 cents per animal


Cement, similar substances, or acids, or similar liquids, by pipeline $4.70/t or part thereof


LP gas - $2.63/kl or part thereof


Bulk sulphur, clinker or similar bulk products

loaded or unloaded other than by pipeline - $4.61/t or part thereof, or

loaded for export - $1.24/t or part thereof


For non-empty dry and reefer containers, a charge for the contents of which is not provided elsewhere in this Schedule

-Import $123.85/6.1m equivalent unit (TEU); $258.96 per 12.2m container

-Export $90.07/6.1m equivalent unit (TEU); $174.51 per 12.2m container

-All full jumbo containers $135.12; empty jumbo containers $17.13




For empty containers - $17.13 per 6.1m equivalent unit (TEU)


For empty non-standard containers – (not 6.1/12.2) will be charged at 69.68 cents per cubic metre


For goods a charge for which is not provided elsewhere in this Schedule - $4.85 per tonne or cubic metre or part thereof, whichever is the greater charge


For transhipment cargo and any cargo not loaded or discharged on a berth within the Port of Darwin (i.e. Vessel to Vessel)


Wharfage fee for outward bound cargo – 50% of the fee specified in this Schedule and appropriate for the particular cargo being transhipped


Wharfage fee for inward bound cargo – 50% of the fee specified in this Schedule and appropriate for the particular cargo being transhipped.


MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT CHARGES


Container Crane


The charge for the IHI/Sumitomo gantry crane is $470.07 per hour. The charge will usually be assessed from boom down to boom up. In instances where the container crane is used for less than four hours, hire rates are subject to negotiation. DPC staff must operate the Container Crane for all foreign Naval vessels loading stores.




Roll On/Roll Off Facility


The charge for use of the Ro-Ro facility is $900.74 per 24 hour, subject to a minimum charging period of 24 hours. Proposed special charge rate for foreign Naval vessels set at $113.30 / Day. This applies if half of the vessel is located over the RORO.

MISCELLANEOUS FEES AND CHARGES


AQIS Wash Bay:

Use of AQIS wash bay - $5.50 per item


Cattle Race:

$168.89 per day


Electricity:

Prevailing Power and Water Authority rates apply plus a $11.33 connection fee.


Gangway Hire:

Per Day - $45.04


Garbage:

Collection: No charge – if extra bin is required $118.22 per bin.


Hire of life jacket & radios:

For vessels berthed @ IOW (for mooring gangs) $56.65 per mooring.




Oil Spill Clean-Up:

Charge determined by size of spill and time spent on clean-up, amount of dispersant used ($5.62/litre) plus hourly rates of plant and equipment used and overtime wages if after hours.


Pilot Launch Hire:

$146.37 per hour


Pontoon / Fenders:

Hire rate for 2 = $623.15 / Day

Hire rate for 1 = $339.9 / Day


Quarantine Waste Disposal:


Unless a private contractor is used:

Vessel less than 25 metres in length - $28.15 per day + $3.38 per crew member.


Vessel 25 metres or more in length - $112.59 per day plus $4.26 for each person on board for each day or part of day, subject to a daily maximum of $2251.84.


Use of incinerator by sources other than vessels - $1.35 per kg (minimum charge $40.48 per service) = 30 kgs


Removal of Waste Items:


Other than garbage – normal rate of hire of equipment used, plus hourly rate for driver.


Small Boat Landing:


$3.94 per vessel per day


Steam Cleaning/Washing Vehicles:


$28.15 per vehicle

Telephones may be arranged through Telstra, phone 008 089144. It is advisable to give at least 1-2 days notice where possible. Connection fee $7.88 per day.


Water:


Prevailing Power and Water Authority rates apply plus an $22.66 connection fee.




Weighbridge:


An Avery Hawke (90110150) licensed public weighbridge, situated at Kitchener Drive, is available to vehicles with a wheelbase not exceeding 24m. It has an electronic digital readout and capacity of 50t x 0.2t, cost is $5.62 per unit.


STORAGE CHARGES


Storage Charges on Inward Cargo

Storage charges on Inward Cargo shall be at the following rates: (for each day during which the goods remain on the wharf after the specified period has expired).


36.05 cents per tonne (m3, whichever is the greater) or part hereof per day for the first 3 days.

54.59 cents per tonne (or m3, whichever is greater) or part hereof per day for next 3 days.

$2.54 per tonne (or m3, whichever is greater) or part thereof per day for each day thereafter.


Storage Charges On Outward Cargo

Storage charges on outward cargo shall be at the rate of 33.99 cents / t (or m3, whichever is greater) of the goods for each day in excess of the period of free storage allowed.


Storage Charges Where a Person Fails to Comply with a Direction to Remove Goods

Storage charges shall be at the rate of $4.74 / t (or m3, whichever is greater) or part thereof for each day or part of a day.
