Asiana Airlines was established by The Kumho Group on February 17, 1988 as South Korea's second national airline. Asiana's corporate emblem is derived from the traditional Korean multi-coloured stripes called "Saektong", which symbolizes a joyful welcome.
Asiana Airlines launched its first domestic flights in December 1988 and inaugurated the first overseas route connecting Korea and Japan in early 1990. In December 1990, Asiana expanded its international network to Hong Kong and Taipei, and inaugurated three weekly flights connecting Seoul with Bangkok and Singapore on January 14, 1991. Today Asiana operates daily flights between Bangkok and Seoul with passenger aircraft plus two weekly freighters with convenient connections from Seoul to more than 50 cities in 13 countries around the world.
Asiana is the fulfillment of a single goal: Create a world-class airline today to meet the demand of the 21st century. Asiana is committed to link the Asia of today with the world of tomorrow. Our commitment to service runs as deep as our Korean heritage and its tradition of warm hospitality. Our concept is the top of customer's satisfaction, which encourages us to develop ourselves ceaselessly to deliver safe, on time flights and the most happiness of our customers. Much like the process which transforms a stone into a fine gem, each aspect of Asiana Airlines has been carefully planned and implemented--one fact at a time, in our drive to become Korea's premiere airline and the Jewel of Asia.
Asiana Airlines established its Bangkok Regional Office in 1991 at the B.B. Building, Asoke Road, Sukhumvit 21, Bangkok. In December 1996, we moved to a new office on the 18th floor of Ploenchit Centre Building, 2 Sukhumvit soi 2, Sukhumvit Road, Bangkok 10110. Asiana Airlines appoints Magellan Corporation Ltd. as its General Sales Agent in Thailand, responsible for the marketing sales, distribution and services of Asiana products and services for both passenger and cargo.
